Lab Members

Amander Clark Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
I was recruited to UCLA, Department of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology and Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Medicine in the Summer of 2006.  My training has extended across two continents, namely Australian where I received my PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Melbourne, and the USA where I received  Postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine in  mouse genetics, and University of California, San Francisco in human embryonic stem cell research.  I look forward to sharing my research interests and experience with the community at UCLA, and recruiting talented personnel to study stem cell and germ cell biology in the laboratory. Tae Sub Park PhD
Postdoctoral Associate

Tae Sub Park is from Seoul National University, School of Agricultural Biotechnology, Seoul, South Korea. Tae Sub has published extensively in biology of primordal germ cells, embryonic stem cells and transgenics under the mentorship of Dr J.Y Han Ph.D. using the Chicken as a model. At UCLA, Dr Park will continue working on the derivation of germ cells from human embryonic stem cells and understanding the genetic and epigenetic events that regulate this process.

Anne Lindgren PhD
Postdoctoral Associate
Anne did her undergraduate work at Bryn Mawr College, where she majored in Biology. After graduating, she examined meiosis and sporulation in yeast as a technician in the lab of Dr. Edward Winter at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. For her graduate studies, Anne moved to Chicago to work in the lab of Dr. Kathleen Millen at The University of Chicago. There she studied the formation and function of the roof plate in the developing central nervous system of the moue. Continuing to use the mouse as a model system in this lab, Anne is comparing germ cells generated in the embryonic mouse to those derived from mouse embryonic stem cells to determine the similarities and differences of these two cell types. Her work will also extend into the study of human germ cell development. When she isn’t in the lab, Anne enjoys knitting and film but not at the same time. Anne’s future career goals are uncertain but will definitely involve research in either the academic or industrial setting.

Gayane Ambartsumyan MD
PhD tract STAR Fellow
Gayane received her bachelor degree in Biochemistry, and her MD from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. During medical school, Gayane actively participated as a volunteer translator at hospitals with high number of Armenian patients and served as President of the Armenian Medical Stuents Association. During medical school Gayane also conducting research in pediatric genetics.  Following medical school Gayane completed her Residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA, finishing her training as one of the Chief Administrative Residents. During residency Gayane also participated in research projects examining FHIT expression in vulvar cancer. Gayane enters the lab as a Speciality Training and Advanced Research Fellow where she will be working towards her PhD in Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology with an emphasis on using human embryonic stem cells as a model for human preimplantation embryo development.
John Vincent B.Sc.
Graduate student. Molecular Biology Interdepartmental PhD program

John graduated in the Spring of 2007 from Boston University with honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  He became interested in RNA biology while working in the lab of Jim Deshler studying mRNA localization in mammalian neurons.  At UCLA, John is continuing to work in the RNA field by examining the role of microRNAs in cancer stem cell and germ cell biology using embryonic stem cells and mouse modeling.  Outside of the lab John enjoys music, movies, exploring southern California, and playing beach volleyball with fellow ACCESS classmates.
