Graduate and Professional School Planning

The UCLA Career Center has a great deal of detailed information on planning for graduate or professional school online at http://career.ucla.edu/GraduateSchool&PreProfessionalServices/. If you have questions on the courses you will need to take to prepare for your career after investigating all of this site, please contact the MCDB Undergraduate Office.

Science Teacher Education Program

California has a critical need for well-trained science teachers. Secondary school science plays a critical role in students' decisions to enter the field of science. YOU can make a difference to thousands of lives! The Science-Education Teacher Preparation Program at UCLA welcomes all students with majors in the Life and Physical Sciences to explore science teaching as a career. Opportunities for tutoring and working in schools can begin as early as your sophomore year. The Junior, Senior, and Master's year programs are more structured and include increasing levels of financial support. If science teaching is a career option you are considering, you should talk to your science counselor and the science-education coordinator as soon as possible. They can help you plan your undergraduate courses now, so that you have time in your senior year to add the M.Ed. courses. For more information, see http://www.nslc.ucla.edu/step/.
