MCDB 193 and 194A

enrolled in a research course with an MCDB faculty member (SRP or MCDB 199, MCDB 199A-B/C/D, MCDB 198A-B/C/D).

Because it is tied to the faculty member's departmental teaching credit, students enrolled in MCDB research courses with faculty sponsors outside MCDB cannot be eligible to enroll in MCDB 193 and/or MCDB 194A.

MCDB 193 (Faculty Journal Club credit) is offered on a P/NP basis ONLY, and for 1 unit of credit. MCDB 194A (Faculty Lab Meeting credit) is offered on a letter grade basis, and for 1 unit of credit.

Please be advised of your personal responsibilities regarding enrolling in these courses. Even if you are eligible to be enrolled in these units by virtue of having enrolled in an MCDB research course, enrollment in 193 and/or 194A will not happen automatically. In order to be enrolled in MCDB 193 and/or 194A each quarter, you must submit a completed request to enroll form (either online or paper) preferably right along with your research contract form by 5pm on Wednesday of 2nd week. You must also take responsibility for making sure that you have already enrolled in no more than 17 units by the point at which you submit your request to enroll in 193 and/or 194A, and/or for having petitioned (on your own) for excess study units.
