Awards

THE CHANCELLOR'S SERVICE AWARD was developed to give recognition at graduation to those students who throughout their years at UCLA have donated their time and energy to making a positive difference at UCLA and in the community. In order to be honored a graduating student must have established a sustained record of commitment to leadership and service through his or her outstanding contributions. The recipients of this award are distinguished by the blue and gold fourragère, which is worn during the Commencement ceremony. They are also honored by having their names listed in a special section of the Commencement program. For details, see http://www.saonet.ucla.edu/csa/.

CAMPUS RESEARCH SYMPOSIA --Are you interested in obtaining an impressive entry on your resume for graduate or professional school? Would you like to win a 0.00 Dean's Prize for excellence in scientific research? If you are or have been enrolled in a SRP, 190 or 199 course, you may want to consider developing an abstract and a poster of your research project, in addition to the final paper that is required. By doing this, you will have an opportunity to be involved in two events that highlight the scientific research that is taking place on campus. And _ you will have expert assistance in putting together your abstract and poster. Undergraduate students who have completed two or more quarters of research in the life or physical sciences at UCLA are eligible to participate in the campus-wide SCIENCE POSTER DAY in the spring of each academic year. Students can attend workshops that take them through the process of putting together abstracts and posters. For more information about Science Poster Day and the workshops, contact Dr. Audrey Cramer, Director of Life and Physical Science Undergraduate Research, LS 2121, 310-794-4227.
