Here is a list of free e-mail services you should subscribe to right away:

The MCD Biology Undergraduate News Service
is designed to keep you up to date on news relevant to the MCDB major. You will be sent e-mail bulletins about scheduling and course changes, career and internship opportunities, science in the news, seminar topics and presentations, and other items of interest. To subscribe, send an e-mail to listserv@listserv.ucla.edu with the following command in the body of the e-mail:

sub mcdbio-L firstname lastname

You will receive a message to confirm the subscription request and all you need to do is follow the instructions in the message. You will then get a message confirming your subscription to the list. Be sure to bookmark the listserve page at http://lists.ucla.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mcdbio-l, so that you can access it again if/when you need to re-subscribe, find previous messages, or make adjustments to your subscription.

CATALIST
is the College news service that provides weekly reminders of drop/add deadlines, new majors and minors and much more. You can subscribe to CATALIST by logging on to MY.UCLA and clicking on "my subscriptions." Click again on "CATALIST" and you will be signed up.

Virtual Chat Room
While you are in MY.UCLA and looking at "my subscriptions," you might want to sign up for Virtual Counseling. The Virtual Chatroom is staffed by graduate students and they give advice and answer academic questions from 3:00-5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
