Create a Contract

  1. Login to MyUCLA.
  2. Click on Contract Courses under the Classes tab.
  3. Select Create a new contract.
  4. Select your term. Then, select your course. Click Next.
  5. Read the contract creation instructions and then click Next.
  6. Select MOLECULAR, CELL, AND DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY as the Subject Area. Click Next.
  7. Select a course number from the drop-down box. Click Next.
  8. Search your faculty mentor’s last name. Click Select. Then, click Next.
  9. The system will check if you have completed the required workshop, Laboratory Safety Fundamentals. You will not be permitted to move ahead with creating the contract until you have completed the workshop.
  10. Because all MCDB research tutorial courses are fixed at 4 units and Letter Grade, you do not have to select anything on this page. Click Next.
  11. For the short description and nature of faculty supervision, please write, “See attached proposal.” For tangible evidence, please write “Quarterly Research Paper.” Click Next.
  12. Review your contract.
  13. Review the terms or requirements for your contract. If you meet the eligibility requirements, select I meet all the eligibility requirements for this contract. Click Continue.
  14. Click View Contract to save it as a PDF. Ask your faculty mentor to sign and date. You do NOT need to get the Chair’s signature. Submit the contract, signed by your faculty mentor, along with other required materials, to the appropriate form by the submission deadline.
